Bone Atlas
One of the projects that I've been working on while on my internship in Raleigh is a bone atlas. The digital illustrator here has me photograph different parts of a dog's anatomy - one day I shot a bone model of a foot, another day I photographed a dog's heart. I clean them up in Photoshop and put them onto a white background so that they can be put straight into the book. My favorite was the dog skull and jaw, inferior view.

Sugar Skull
Lately I've been infatuated with sugar skulls. I brought one home from California last year and I've been wanting to draw one for quite some time. I made my first attempt the other day and was not satisfied with it. Then, yesterday morning I was in the perfect mood to try again.
This sugar skull was originally sketched on a yellow post-it note. Then I scanned it and pulled it up in Photoshop, where I spent my whole work day editing. I cleaned it up and gave it some color and eventually I'm going to try to composite it into another piece of work!

April Showers
All day today we've been watching the Weather channel, watching a huge storm come across the Carolinas. Finally, around 9 pm the storm hit us, and we had a tornado warning. My family and I even bunked down in the bathroom twice, and a tornado by-passed us to the south. Afterwards, I went outside and got some long exposures of the lightning to the south east.

Skate Sequence
This past week we had to do an interview that is well known and loved by locals. Nick and I were working as a team and picked the Doak Skate Park in Thomasville, NC. We met a few cool kids there that let us interview them and photograph them. It was a fun way to spend an evening.
This was also the first time I had used a Canon 5D MKII. I spent about an hour putting this together on this in Photoshop. I wish I had shot it before the sun went down so there wouldn't be motion blur.

Fresh from the Atlantic
For about two weeks I've really wanted to find and bring in a whole fish to photograph it. I finally went up to Todd's Seafood in Thomasville, NC and bought a Red Snapper. I set up in the cove and started shooting!

Sweetness
This week I decided to photograph sweets, mainly because I got so many from my boyfriend on Valentine's Day. I actually made the cupcake below as a surprise for him! Enjoy!

Texture
I wanted to highlight the texture on a pair of wedges that I had in my closet. Not only did they have texture in the heel, but on the canvas as well. I set up two Halo lights with a white card on the left side, and here it is.
